OVERVIEW
- The sweater is worked in 4 pieces: Back, front and two sleeves.
- The font and back panels are crocheted from the below edge and in the direction of the arrows as shown in the picture below.
- The neckband is crocheted separately then sewn to the body.

GAUGE: (Approximate) 18 sts and 12 rows = 4″x4” [10×10 cm] in pattern with 5mm crochet hook.
Note: Before starting to crochet the sweater, you should make a swatch to check the gauge first. The swatch should be 18 sts and 12 rows = 4″x4” [10×10 cm] so that the sweater could get the dimensions recommended in the table below.

Make upper part of sleeve
With 5mm hook, ch 65 /67 /71 /73.
Row 1 (WS): Begin from 3rd chain from hook, hdc in next 63 /65 /69 /71 chains. Ch2, turn.
Row 2 (RS): Hdc BLO in all sts. Ch2, turn.
Row 3: Hdc BLO in all sts. Ch2, turn.
Row 4: Dc in next st, make a bead stitch over the dc. *Skip next st, dc in next st, make a bead st over dc. Repeat from * to last st. Dc in last st. Ch 2, turn.
Row 5: Hdc BLO in all sts. Ch2, turn.
Repeat from Row 2 to Row 5 11 /11 /12 /13 times more. There are 49 /49 /53 /57 rows after this step. For size M only, repeat Row 2 and Row 3 once more. There are 51 rows for size M after this step.
Shape the balloon sleeve
Change to 4mm hook.
Row 1’ (WS): Sc 49 /51 /53 /57 sts across wide edge of Sleeve, in the direction as the arrow shown in picture 4. Ch 1, turn.
Row 2’ (RS): (Sc in next st, sc2tog) 16/ 17/ 17/ 19 times, sc in remaining sts (Picture 5). There are 33 /34 /36 /38 sts left after this step. Fasten off.

Make the cuff
With 3.5mm hook, ch 15.
Row 1 (WS): Begin from 2nd chain from hook, YOST in next 14 sts; ch 1, turn.
Row 2: YOST BLO in next 14 sts; Ch1, turn.
Repeat last row 31 /32 /34 /36 more times. There are 33 /34 /36 /38 rows after this step. Fasten off, leave a long yarn thread to sew the cuff to the sleeve.
Make another Sleeve the same.
NECKBAND
With 3.5mm hook, ch 9.
Row 1 (WS): Begin from 2nd chain from hook, YOST in next 8 chains; ch 1, turn.
Row 2: YOST BLO in next 8 sts; Ch1, turn.
Repeat last row until neckband measures length to fit around neck edge, when slightly stretched, ending on a WS row. Fasten off.
FINISHING
With RS facing.
Sew shoulder seams together with Whip stitch.
Sew cuffs to sleeves: Sew 1 st of the upper sleeve to 1 st of the cuff.
Note: Do not pull the yarn thread too tightly when you sew because it will prevent your hands from getting through the cuffs. Stretch the cuff horizontally to make sure that it stretches well.
Sew tops of the sleeves into the armholes with Whip stitch.
Sew side and sleeve seams together with Whip stitch.
Smooth neckline
With 3.5mm hook. Join a yarn thread to top of the front right shoulder, crochet along the back and front panel. Along a vertical edge of a neck, 1sc in each stitch. Along a horizontal edge, 1sc in each hdc row and 2sc in each bead-stitch row.
Sew neckband to body
Place the beginning of the neckband at top of the front right shoulder seam and sew a long edge of the neckband along the neckline with Whip stitch, stretching slightly to fit.
Sew neckband seams together with mattress stitch. Wave in end.
