OVERVIEW:
- The sweater is worked in 5 pieces: Back panel, 2 Front panels and 2 sleeves
- Each piece is worked back and forth in rows beginning at lower edge.
- Stitches are picked up around neck for the neckband.

MATERIALS AND TOOLS:
- Option 1: Nako Elit Baby, color No. 208: 4 (5, 5, 6, 6, 7) balls of yarn, each ball is 100g.
Note: You also could choose another yarn brand, make sure that the yarn is DK and the yarn weight is 250m/ 100g.
Option 2: If you love mohair cardigan, you could knit with these two yarn threads at once:
- Alize Angora Gold, color No.62: 2 (3, 3, 4, 4, 4) balls. Each ball is 100g.
- YarnArt Merino Sport, color No.760: 3 (3, 4, 4, 4, 5) balls. Each ball is 100g.
Note: You could choose another yarn brands. The alternatives for Alize Angora Gold are the yarns which is 400m/100g. The alternatives for YarnArt Merino Sport are the yarns which is 550m/100g. The yarns should be made partly from wool so that your cardigan will turn out soft and light.
- Size 4mm (length: 70cm or 80 cm) circular knitting needles
- Size 4.5mm (length: 70cm or 80cm) circular needles or size to obtain gauge
- 4 two-centimeters-black buttons
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle
- Measuring tape
- Knitting markers
GAUGE: (Approximate) 18 sts and 23 rows = 4×4 inches [10×10 cm] in stocking st with 4.5mm needles.
Before knitting the sweater, you need to make a gauge swatch which is the only way to make sure that the recommended needles give you the correct gauge.

A QUICK GUIDE TO THE KNTTING STITCHES USED IN THIS PATTERN:
- Increase (inc): Insert the left-hand needle under the running thread from front to back; knit the strand through the back with right-hand needle
- Mattress stitch: Beginning from the bottom row of one piece, thread the needle through two stitches on the opposite piece.
- Picking up stitches: With the RS facing, insert the needle into the first stitch; wrap the yarn through the needle and pull a loop through. Continue with all sts.

BACK PANEL:
With 4mm circular needles, cast on 84 (90, 94, 102, 110, 120) sts.
Row 1: **K1, P1; repeat from ** to end of row
Repeat Row 1 until piece measures about 2½” (5cm) from beginning.
Change to 4.5mm needles. Row 2 (RS): K1 in all sts Row 3: P1 in all sts
Repeat last 2 rows until work from beginning is 10 (10½, 11, 11½, 12, 12½)” [26 (27, 28, 29, 31, 32) cm], end with a WS row as the last row you work.
Shape armholes:
Row 4 (RS): Cast off 2 sts at the beginning of row, K1 to end of row.
Row 5: Cast off 2 sts at the beginning of row, P1 to end of row. There are 80 (86, 90, 98, 106, 116) sts remaining.
Continue work in stocking stitch (do not cast off anymore) until work from beginning is 17 (17½, 18½, 19, 20, 20½)” [43 (45, 47, 49, 50, 52) cm], ending on a WS row.
Shape shoulder and neck:
Count 36 (38, 41, 44, 48, 53) sts from one side, place a marker, count next 8 (10, 8, 10, 10, 10) sts and place a second
marker. There are 36 (38, 41, 44, 48, 53) sts to the other side.
Row 6 (RS): K1 to first marker for right shoulder. Remove marker, join the 2nd ball of yarn and bind off 8 (10, 8, 10, 10, 10) sts; removing the 2nd marker for back neck. K1 to end of row for left shoulder.
You will now work on both shoulders AT THE SAME TIME with two separated balls of yarn.
Row 7: On left shoulder, P1 in all sts. On right shoulder, cast off first 7 (7, 8, 9, 10, 11) sts, P1 in remaining sts. Row 8: On right shoulder, K1 in all sts. On left shoulder, cast off the first 7 (7, 8, 9, 10, 11) sts, K1 to end of row. Repeat Row 7 and Row 8 once more.
There are 22 (24, 25, 26, 28, 31) sts on each shoulder.
Row 9-12: Work in pattern for 4 rows
Row 13: Cast off all sts of both shoulders. Leave a long yarn thread to sew shoulder seams of Back and Front panels together.

Change to 4.5mm needles.
Row 3 (RS): Inc in all sts. There are 74 (78, 82, 84, 84, 88) sts at the end.
Row 4: P1 in all sts Row 5: K1 in all sts Row 6: P1 in all sts
Repeat last 2 rows until work from beginning is 17 (17½, 18, 18½, 19, 19½)” [43 (44, 46, 47, 48, 50) cm]. Cast off all sts, leave a long yarn thread to sew the sleeve to the body.
Make other Sleeve the same.
FINISHING:
Block pieces.
Sew shoulder seams with mattress stitch.
Sew tops of Sleeves into armholes with mattress stitch. Sew side and Sleeve seams with mattress stitch.
Neckband:
With RS facing and 4mm needles pick up, beginning from the bottom of Right Front panel and pick up sts up right neck edge and on the Back panel and then along the Left panel.
Row 1 (WS): Work in K1, P1 Rib
Row 2-3: Work in K1, P1 Rib
Make vertical buttonholes. There are 4 buttonholes, each one is 3 (3½, 3½, 3½, 3½, 4)” [8 (8, 9, 9, 9, 10) cm] apart from each other.

Row 4 (RS): Work in K1, P1 Rib for first 4 sts. Cast off next 2 sts (first buttonhole). (**) Continue working in K1, P1 Rib until work from the previous buttonhole is 3 (3½, 3½, 3½, 3½, 4)” [8 (8, 9, 9, 9, 10) cm]. Cast of next 2 sts (**). Repeat from (**) to (**) twice more. Work in K1, P1 Rib to end of row
Row 5: Work in K1, P1 Rib to the 4th buttonhole (the highest one). Cast on 2 sts. (***) Continue working in K1, P1 Rib to next buttonhole, cast on 2sts (***). Repeat from (***) to (***) twice more. Work in K1, P1 for 4 sts.
