RECOMMENDED YARN AND HOOK
Yarn: merino wool, 4 – medium weight yarn – 126 yards in 1.76oz.
Crochet hook: 4 mm
What is used in this pattern for size 0-6 months:
- 504 yards – 200g (4 balls, 50g each) Fibranatura DONA Yarn, 115m/50g.
- 100% merino wool
- Hook 4 mm (Tulip)

This pattern is written using US crochet terms:
- st (sts) – stitch (stitches)
- sc – single crochet
- ch – chain stitch
- sl st – slip stitch
- hdc – half double crochet
- yo-slst – yarn over slip stitch
- blo – back loops only
- main patt (main pattern) – alternate 1hdc and 1slst into blo.
- tch – ch1 and turn (don’t count tch as a stitch)
Please check the gauge before you start!
GAUGE for main pattern: work 20 sts and 22 rows in main pattern to measure 10x10cm or 4×4 in using 4 mm hook, or size required to obtain the gauge.
How to make main pattern: just for getting gauge do ch21.

Row 1: Work in back bumps of the foundation chain: hdc in 2nd ch from hook, sl st, hdc, repeat from * to end. =(20sts in sum), tch.

Row 2: work into back loops only. Repeat (1hdc, 1sl st) to the end of the row, (20sts), tch.
Repeat Row 2 till you obtain the gauge.
Work slst in hdc of a previous row and work hdc in slst of a previous row. This means that HDC and SLST in the next row will be staggered. Look at the scheme (In the scheme only 10 stitches for illustration).

THE BACK PART
Start on the right side and work from a shoulder.

Pattern is written for 0-6m, changes for 6-12m, 12-24m, 3-4years, 5-6years, 7-8years sizes are in [ …].
Ch 54 [60, 71, 77, 83, 91], tch.
The first row is the right side (RS), so odd rows are all right side. Work in back bumps of the foundation chain in Row 1.
Row 1(RS): work 47 [53, 64, 70, 74, 82] sts
alternate 1hdc and 1sl st (main patt). And 1 yo- slst in each of the next 7[7, 7, 7, 9, 9] sts, tch.
Have a 54 [ 60, 71, 77, 83, 91] sts.
Here and throughout work into back loops only.
Row 2(WS): 7[7, 7, 7, 9, 9] slst, 47 [53, 64, 70, 74, 82] sts alternate 1sl st and 1hdc (main patt), tch.
Remember, HDC and SLST in each next row will be staggered.
Row 3(RS): 47[53, 64, 70, 74, 82] sts alternate 1hdc and 1sl st (Here and throughout main patt). And 7[7, 7, 7, 9, 9] yo-slst, tch.
Repeat Row 2 and 3 alternately. Work 17 [21, 23, 25, 27, 29] rows in sum.
Row 18 [22, 24, 26, 28, 30]: 7[7, 7, 7, 9, 9] slst, 43[49, 60, 66, 69, 77]sts in main patt, next two sts crochet together (decrease). Leave last 2[2, 2, 2, 3, 3]sts unworked. Have a 51[57, 68, 74, 79, 87] sts), tch.
How to do invisible half double crochet decrease: yarn over, insert hook into the back loop of the next st then insert the hook into the back loop of the 2nd st and pull yarn through two loops on your hook. You have 3 loops left. Pull yarn through the rest.
How to do invisible slip stitch decrease: insert hook into the back loop of the next st, insert the hook into the back loop of the 2nd st, pull yarn through all 3 sts on your hook.
Row 19[23, 25, 27, 29, 31]: 44[50, 61, 67, 70, 78]sts in main patt, 7[7, 7, 7, 9, 9] yo-slst. Have a 51[57, 68, 74, 79, 87] sts, tch.
Row 20[24, 26, 28, 30, 32]: 7[7, 7, 7, 9, 9] sl st, 42[48, 59, 65, 68, 76]sts in main patt, next two sts crochet together (decrease), tch. =50[56, 67, 73, 78, 86] sts.
Row 21[25, 27, 29, 31, 33]: 43[49, 60, 66, 69, sts in main patt, 7[7, 7, 7, 9, 9] yo-slst, tch.
Row 22[26, 28, 30, 32, 34]: 7[7, 7, 7, 9, 9] sl st, 43[49, 60, 66, 69, 77]sts in main patt, tch.

Repeat Rows 21 and 22 till you Row 46[56, 62, 68, 70, 74].
Then we’ll increase 4[4, 4, 4, 5, 5]sts in sum, to get 54[60, 71, 77, 83, 91]sts again.
Note: increase – work 1slst in the last st and 1hdc in the same st. OR work 1hdc in the last st and 1slst in the same st. Look at your pattern, at the loop before the increase. Remember about the staggered pattern.
Row 46[56, 62, 68, 70, 74]: 7[7, 7, 7, 9, 9] sl st, 42[48, 59, 65, 68, 76]sts in main patt, increase in the last st, tch. = 51[57, 68, 74, 79, 87] sts.
Row 47[57, 63, 69, 71, 75]: 44[50, 61, 67, 70, sts in main patt, 7[7, 7, 7, 9, 9] yo-slst, tch. = 51[57, 68, 74, 79, 87]sts.
Row 48[58, 64, 70, 72, 76]: 7[7, 7, 7, 9, 9] sl st, 43[49, 60, 66, 69, 77]sts in main patt, increase in the last st, tch. = 52[58, 69, 75, 80, 88]sts.
To increse 2[2, 2, 2, 3, 3] more sts in the next row, work 2[2, 2, 2, 3, 3] ch and tch.
Next row is a row for the shoulder already.

Row 49[59, 65, 71, 73, 77]: work 2[2, 2, 2, 3, 3] sts in main patt into the back bump of the foundation chain, 45[51, 62, 68, 71, 79]sts in main patt, 7[7, 7, 7, 9, 9] yo-slst, tch. = 54[60, 71, 77, 83, 91], sts.
Row 50[60, 66, 72, 74, 78]: 7[7, 7, 7, 9, 9] sl st, 47[53, 64, 70, 74, 82]sts in main patt, ch. = 54[60, 71, 77, 83, 91], sts.
Row 51[61, 67, 73, 75, 79]: 47[53, 64, 70, 74, sts in main patt, 7[7, 7, 7, 9, 9] yo-slst, tch. = 54[60, 71, 77, 83, 91]sts.
Repeat Rows 50 and 51 until you work 65[79, 87, 95, 99, 105] rows of the back.
Do not fasten off, continue working the front part.
Last row ends at the bottom at the ribbing border.
The next row is additional, side row.
Short additional row: 7[7, 7, 7, 9, 9] sl st, 25[29, 37, 40, 42, 50] sts in main patt, tch. = 32[36, 44, 47, 51, 59]sts. 22[24, 27, 30, 32, 32]sts leave for armhole.

Do not fasten off.
After the additional Row start numbering rows from the beginning.
THE FRONT PART
Here and throughout work into back loops only
As for the back, you work 17[21, 23, 25, 27, 29] rows for a shoulder and 31[37, 41, 45, 45, 47] row to shape the collar. It will be deeper here. Decrease more stitches – by one in each row. And then 17[21, 23, 25, 27, 29] more rows for the second shoulder. You work 65[79, 87, 95, 99, 105] rows in sum.

START. After the additional row do not fasten off. Do 22[24, 27, 30, 32, 32]ch to continue front part. And tch.

Insert the hook into the back chain bumps starting from the 2nd st from the hook.
Row 1: 22[24, 27, 30, 32, 32]sts in main patt. To know what kind of stitch to begin each row watch your patt: alternate hdc and sl st, working sl st in hdc and hdc in sl st of a previous row.
Then 25[29, 37, 40, 42, 50] sts in main patt, 7[7, 7, 7, 9, 9] yo-slst. You have again 54[60, 71, 77, 83, 91], tch.
Row 2: 7[7, 7, 7, 9, 9] sl st, 47[53, 64, 70, 74, 82] sts in main patt, tch.

Decreases are finished for size 0-6 months, 6- 12 months, 12-24 months, 3 – 4 years. For this
size you work 21[27, 31, 35] more rows in 45[50, 61, 67]sts. (And for size 5-6 years, 7-8 years read on page 8).
Row 23[27, 29, 31]: 38[43, 54, 60] sts in main patt, 7[7, 7, 7] yo-slst, tch. = 45[50, 61, 67]sts.

Repeat Rows 74 and 75 until you work [99, 105] rows of the front part.
Make a seam
Leave 22[24, 27, 30, 32, 32] sts for the armholes.
The side seam you can just sew. Sew the front and back together.
OR Make a seam with your hook by 32[36, 44, 47, 51, 59] slip stitches on the right side of your workpiece.: insert the hook into the front loops of the nearest to you side and into the back loops of the farther to you side.
When joining sides of the workpiece in ribbing part, work only in sl st.
When go to the main pattern of the panel, join sides working in main patt- alternating hdc and sl st to make the seam invisible.

The shoulder seams you can be done with a needle. Sew front and back.
OR Make shoulder seams with your hook on the wrong side of the workpiece: insert the hook into two shoulder rows (back and front) and join them by sc.
You can make a seam for the 2nd shoulder in the direction of the collar to continue crochet the ribbing then if there is enough yarn in your skein.
COLLAR RIBBING
You can crochet a collar ribbing separately and then sew it on. And in the description I recommend crocheting ribbing and at the same time attaching it to collar with two slip stitches.
Join the thread to the neck on the front side. Crochet ribbing for the neck along the front and further along the back. If you joined from the other side, then knit an elastic band for the neck along the back and further along the front.
To make the neck like in my photo, the last slip stitch in row work in both loops of stitch.
Do 7[7, 9, 9, 9, 9]ch for the collar ribbing and tch.
Row 1: 7[7, 9, 9, 9, 9]yo-slst. Attach the collar ribbing to the neck with 2 slst: work sl st into each from the next two sts of the neck. Here and throughout skip and don’t count this 2slst as a stitch. Turn without ch.

Row 2: 7[7, 9, 9, 9, 9]sl st, tch. last slip stitch in row work in both loops.
Row 3: 7[7, 9, 9, 9, 9]yo-slst, work sl st into each from the next two rows. Turn without ch.
Repeat Rows 2 and 3 to end.

Make the seam by the hook on the right side with sl st. Work into front and back loops of the sts. Or just sew.

SLEEVES
You can crochet a sleeves separately and then sew it on. And in the description I recommend crocheting sleeves and at the same time attaching it to armhole with two slip stitches.
Work 37[50, 60, 69, 75, 83] ch and tch. When working 1st row insert the hook into the back chain bumps.

Row 1 (as for the right side): 7[7, 7, 7, 9, 9] yo-slst, 30[43, 53, 62, 66, 74] sts in main patt.
Connect the sleeve to the armhole with 2 slst: work sl st into each from the next two sts. Here and throughout skip and don’t count this 2slst as a stitch. Turn without ch.
Row 2: 30[43, 53, 62, 66, 74]sts in main patt, 7[7, 7, 7, 9, 9] sl st. =37[50, 60, 69, 75, 83], tch.
Row 3: 7[7, 7, 7, 9, 9] yo-slst, 30[43, 53, 62, 66, 74]sts in main patt, work sl st into each from the next two sts of the armhole. Turn without ch.
Repeat Rows 2 and 3 until the sleeve is done. Work 45[49, 53, 55, 65, 65] rows in sum.

Make seam on the right side with the hook: join loops of the ribbing part by sl st, and join loops of the main patt by alternating hdc and sl st. Or just sew.
