Crochet Pattern Baby Shoes – Trendy leopard pattern is now available as baby booties! With our crochet instructions for baby sneakers, you can make these small shoes in the popular style of a well-known brand that are just as perfect for your own baby as they are as a present for expectant parents.
MATERIALS AND TOOLS:
- Original yarn: Hobbii Rainbow Deluxe 8/4 (100% Turkish cotton, 170 m/186 yds 50 g/1.75 oz per skein) approx. 140-160 yards total.
- Substitute yarn: #1 Super Fine / Fingering 100% cotton – green in the table.
- Hook: 2.00 mm
- Notions: measuring tape, scissors, stitch markers, tapestry needle, textile glue, size 5X5″ polyester felt 1mm (.039”)
- Gauge: 30 sc* 33 rnds = 4’’ (10cm). Always use a crochet hook size that will result in the correct gauge after blocking.
If the sole turns out larger than needed, then crochet tighter or use a hook 0.25-0.5 mm smaller.

BABY SHOE DISPLAYS

I use baby shoe displays for all my booties:
- It is very convenient to try on booties while crocheting.
- Helps to achieve the right size.
- Used to dry the finished items after washing to maintain the shape of the booties.
SIZES:
Before crocheting sneakers, you need to measure the inner foot length (as shown in the picture). If this is not possible, then use the numbers from the table below.
It gives average data for different ages of children. Remember that all children are different and each one is unique 🙂

Pattern for booties size newborn is the same for baby 0- 3 months BUT crochet it using crochet HOOK 1.75 mm!

STEP 1. SOLE/BOTTOM (make 2)

Chain 18. Stitches are worked around both sides of the foundation chain. PM to indicate the beginning of the round.
Rnd 1: ch 2, 2 dc in the 18th ch, 16 dc, 5 dc in the last chain; turn around and work in the unused loops on the other side: 16 dc, dc inc, sl-st (42) [fig 1].

Rnd 2: ch 1, 2 inc, 7 sc, 2 hdc, 7dc, rep(dc inc) *5, 7 dc, 2 hdc, 7sc, 2 inc, 1 sc, sl-st (52) [fig 2].

Rnd 3: ch 2, rep(dc inc)*4, 16 dc, rep(dc inc)*10, 16 dc, rep(dc inc)*4, 1 dc, sl-st (70) [fig 3].

Rnd 4: ch 1, 1 sc in every st to the end of rnd (70). Break the working yarn. Invisible join in the round [fig 4].

Chain 20.
Rnd 1: ch 2, 2 dc in the 20th chain, 18 dc, 5 dc in the last ch; turn around and work in the unused loops on the other side: 18 dc, 2 dc in the last ch, sl-st (46)
Rnd 2: ch 1, 2 inc , 8 sc, 2 hdc, 8 dc, rep(dc inc)*5, 8 dc, 2 hdc, 8 sc,2 inc, 1 sc, sl-st (56).
Rnd 3: ch 2, rep(dc inc)*4, 18 dc, rep(dc inc)*10, 18 dc, rep(dc inc)*4 , 1 dc, sl-st (74).
Rnd 4: ch 1 1 sc in every st to the end of rnd (74). Break the working yarn, invisible join in the round.
Size baby 6-9 months
Chain 22.
Rnd 1: ch 2, 2 dc in the 22nd chain, 20 dc, 5 dc in the last ch; turn around and work in the unused loops on the other side: 20 dc, 2 dc in the last st, sl-st (50)
Rnd 2: ch 1, 2 inc, 9 sc, 2 hdc, 9 dc, rep(dc inc)*5, 9 dc, 2 hdc, 9 sc, 2 inc, 1 sc, sl-st (60)

Rnd 4: ch 1, 1 sc in every st to the end of rnd (78). Break the working yarn, invisible join in the round.
Go to Step 2.
Make the felt insole for sole reinforcement:
- Take a piece of paper and trace the crocheted sole [fig 5].
- Draw a second line by stepping 0.5 cm / 0.2″ inward [fig 6].
- Cut the paper blank along the second line.
- Take a piece of felt and trace the paper template [fig 7].
- Cut out the felt insole [fig 8].

STEP 2. THE SIDES OF SOLE
Start crocheting from the middle of the heel, thread the working yarn into slip stitching chain [fig 9].

Size newborn and 0-3 months
Rnd 1: crochet BLO: ch 1, 1 sc in the next st, 68 sc, sl-st (70) [fig 10].
Rnd 2: ch 1, 69 sc, sl-st (70)
Rnds 3-5: rep Rnd 2 (70).

Break the working yarn, invisible join in the round [fig 11].

Work back and forth.
From the middle of the toe, count 3 stitches to the right and insert the hook into the 3rd stitch.

Row 3: 1 sc in the second st, 7 sc, 2 sc, turn.

Row 6: 1 sc in the second st, 10 sc, 2 sc, turn.

Continue crocheting back and forth.

STEP 5. STITCHING
Same for all sizes.
Use black yarn.
PM1 to indicate 22nd st from the middle of the heel to the right,
PM2 to indicate 22nd st from the middle of the heel to the left [42 sts] [fig 18].

Work sl-sts from PM1 to PM2, between Rnds 2 and 3 of the sides of the sole. Break the working yarn, leaving a tail of approx. 5 cm/ 2” [fig 19].
Work sl-sts along the last rnd of the side of the sole [fig 28].
Break the working yarn, leaving a tail of approx. 5 cm/ 2 [fig 20].

STEP 6. SHOE SIDES
This step contains instructions for 4 sizes. and 0-3 months, the second is for 3-6 months, the third is for 6-9 months. To avoid mistakes, highlight the desired size yourself.
6.1
Start from the right side. Count 6 stitches from the edge of toe. Insert the hook in the 6th half loop and pull the working yarn through [fig 21].
Row 1: ch 1, 6 sc FLO, 39/43/47 sc, 5 sc FLO, turn (51/55/59).
Row 2: ch 1,17/18/19 sc,16/18/20 hdc, 17/18/19 sc (51/55/59)
Pull out a large loop and thread the booties through this loop, tighten tightly. Turn. Count 3 sts from the edge to the left and insert the hook into the third st, pull the working yarn through [fig 22].

Row 3: ch 1, 17/18/19 sc, 12/14/16 dc, 17/18/19 sc (47/51/55) (don’t crochet two last stitches).
Pull out a large loop and thread the bootie through this loop, tighten tightly. Turn.
Count 3 sts from the edge to the left and insert the hook into the third st, pull the working yarn through.
Row 4: ch 1, 17/18/19 sc, 8/10/12 dc, 17/18/19 sc (43/47/51) (do not crochet two last stitches).
Pull out a large loop and thread the bootie through this loop, tighten tightly. Turn.
Count 3 sts from the edge to the left and insert the hook into the third st, pull the working yarn through.
6.2
Row 1: ch 1, 7 sc, turn
Row 2: 5 sc
Pull out a large loop and thread the bootie through this loop, tighten tightly. Turn.
Count 3 sts from the edge to the left and insert the hook into the third st, pull the working yarn through.
Row 3: ch 1, 3 sc, ch 1, turn.
Row 4: 14 sc, 1 sl-st, ch1, turn.
Row 5: 2 sc, rep(ch 2, skip 1 st, 2 sc)*4, ch1. Break the working yarn [fig 23]

6.3.
Begin to crochet the left side from WS.
Count 3 sts from the edge to the left and insert the hook into the third st, pull the working yarn through.
Row 1: ch 1, 7 sc, turn
Row 2: 5 sc
Pull out a large loop and thread the bootie through this loop, tighten tightly. Turn. Count 3 sts from the edge to the left and insert the hook into the third st, pull the working yarn through.
Row 3: ch 1, 3 sc, ch 1, turn [fig 24].

Row 4: 14 sc, sl-st, ch 1, turn.
Row 5: 2 sc, rep(ch 2, skip 1st, 2 sc)*4, ch1. Break the working yarn [fig 25]

6.4.
Begin to crochet the right side.
Insert the hook into the last half loop from the right edge and pull the working yarn through.
Row 1: ch 1, sc* till the end, includes the last half loop, turn.TIP: In the place of sharp corners crochet increase, in the place of right angles crochet a decrease [fig 26]

Row 2: sc* till the end of the row, sl-st. Break the working yarn [fig 27].

STEP 7. EMBROIDERY
Same for all sizes.
Use beige yarn.
Begin to embroider spots on the sides of the bootie as shown in the video [fig 28]

Use black yarn.
Embroider the beige spots along the contour on the sides of the booties as shown in the video [fig 29].

STEP 8. LACES (MAKE 2)
Same for all sizes.
You can use ready-made laces and insert them into the crocheted sneakers or crochet them yourself.
The length of the laces should be 52-55 cm (20-21”)
Option 1
Make a chain of 105 – 115. Break the working yarn. Take time to make these look as neat as possible.
Option 2
Work with 2 strands as it is shown in the video. Break the working yarn.
Thread the laces through the sneakers [fig 30-32].
