Changing Colours:

Step 1: when changing colours, you never want to complete the last stitch. Work your last stitch until you have the last 2 loops on your hook, draw up the indicated colour, pull through the 2 loops on your hook/ there are a number of youtube tutorials that show this technique if you are unfamiliar with changing colours

Step 2: Carry the tails on the wrong side your work. Note: Each tree bobble row is separate. Fasten off the CC at the completion of each individual tree bobble row. All colour changes and carries to the wrong side or back of your pillow. This leaves a nice neat front and back of your work. The CC is dropped each time unless otherwise indicated, at the completion of CC stitches in a row and then picked up when indicated in the next row. Carry the MC throughout, working the MC into the back of the bobble stitches

Bobble Stitch (MB)– Yarn over and insert hook into designated stitch. Yarn over and draw a loop through the stitch. Yarn over and draw though 2 loops on the hook. You will now have 2 loops still on the hook. *Yarn over and insert the hook into the same stitch. Yarn over and draw a loop through the stitch. Yarn over and draw though 2 loops on the hook* repeat 4 more times. You will now have a total of 6 loops on the hook. Yarn over and draw though all 6 loops. Bobble complete!! This makes a full bobble

Notes

  • This pattern is written in Canadian/American English
  • Chain and turn (chain does not count as a stitch)
  • Instructions in *stars* are repeated the number of times indicated after the second *
  • I used Bernat Premium Yarn – medium 4 worsted weight yarn
  • The pattern is written in rows. Each row has the number of stitches indicated in ( ) at the end of each row. Turning chains are not counted as a stitch. Solid white and green squares are Sc. Green squares with B are bobble stitch using same colour yarn
  • Finished pillow panel size is 13 x 13 inches (it will stretch nicely and evenly over a 14 x 14 pillow form)
  • Not all pillow forms are alike for density. I used a 14 x 14 inch pillow form. Before inserting pillow form into finished work, fluff the form evenly and into all four corners. This creates an even look to your finished product. If you cannot find a pillow form use a polyfil stuffing and fill the pillow cover evenly before closing.
