- After a total of 8 / 9/ 10 completed diamonds ( or however short or long you want your cover up to be) start working on the shouder shaping.
- The picture below is for sizes small/ medium and large. For X-large you add one more diamond pattern on each side. Right or left shoulder, makes no difference.
For the shoulder:

- Turn and chain 1/ 1 DC in the same stitch/ 1 V bobble/ chain 4/ 1 DC in the stitch in front of the DC of the previuous row/ 1 DC in the DC and 1 DC in the next DC of the previous row.
- Turn
- Chain 1 and 1 DC in the same stitch/ chain 5/ V bobble / chain 3/ 1 DC in the next 5 stitches/ chain 3/ V bobble…continue in the diamond pattern. End your row with 1 DC in the last space.
- Turn
- Chain 1 and 1 DC in the same stitch/ continue in the diamond pattern/ chain 2/ V bobble/ chain 5 and 1 DC in the last space ( look at the above picture for reference)
- Turn
- Chain 1 in the same stitch/ chain 5/ V bobble/ continue in diamond pattern/ V bobble/ end with 1 DC in the last space (right next to the DC)
- Turn
- Chain 1 and 1 DC in the same stitch/ V bobble/ chain 4…diamond pattern … chain 4/ V bobble/ chain 5 and finish with 1 DC in het last space.
- Turn
- Chain 1/ 1 DC in the same stitch/ chain 5/ V bobble/ chain 5/ 1 DC in the middle of the 3 DC/ chain 5/ V bobble/ end woth 1 DC in the last space.
For the other shoulder:
- Connect the thread on the side of the panel. Chain 1 and DC in the same space/ Then crochet the same as you did for the other shoulder. Check picture above for refeference .
Big/ wide Sleeves:
- Small: chain 55
- Medium/large and X-Large: chain 67
- Crochet in diamond pattern till you have reached the length you like. Keep in mind that the shoulders of the panels drape over your shoulders, so don’t make them too long!
- For small I would make them go up 5 patterns/ medium 6 patterns and for large and Xlarge 7 patterns ( unless you have very long arms 😉 )
- Fold the sleeves lengthwise and sew the seams.

Essemble your cover-up.
- Sew the shoulders together.
- Sew the sides, leaving enough room for the sleeves to be inserted.
- Sew the sleeves in the spaces you left open.
If you like the neck to be “snugger” then connect the thread on top of the right shoulder and SS all around. Skipping 1 stitch after every 3 stitches. Till you get back around. SS to connect and cut thread.
Sew in all ends.
Additional information for the black cover- up Wear it as a dress or as a skirt

- Start as explained in the white cover – up.
- After you have reached your desired length, ( in my examples it would be after 7/8/9 completed diamond patterns.
- Then you turn, chain 1 and SC in all stitches as follows:
- *** Skip over the DC/ 1 SC in the next 5 stitches/ 1 SC in the V of the V bobble/ 1 SC in the next 5 stitches *** Repeat from *** – *** Finish row with 1 SC in the last 2 stitches.
- Turn
- Chain 1 and DC in the same stitch/ DC in all stitches.
- For Small: After 12 rows DC cut thread,
- For medium and large: After 16 rows of DC cut thread.
- For X-large: after 20 rows of DC cut thread.
- Make an identical piece.
Sew the 2 pieces together.
Make a draw string to weave through the last row of DC.
You can twist it, or (like mine) crochet a long basic chain of about 200 chains. I did use my thread in 3 strings though.
ENJOY WORKING ON YOUR PROJECT!
