Crochet Pattern Bunny With A Carrot – To make things go as smoothly as possible, this pattern contains a link to the video instructional in addition.
Materials Needed
- Vita Lily 100% cotton1.75oz/50g approx 137yds/125m in 2 different colors
Colors – any colors.
You can substitute yarn just make sure that it matches original proportions.
Suggested substitute yarn
“Scheepjes Catona”, “Schachenmayr Catania”
- Crochet hook 2 mm and 2.5 mm
- Stuffing
- Wooden ring approx 2-3in/60-70mm in diameter (I recommend beech wooden ring for you)
- Rattle approx 1in/24-28mm in diameter
- Black embroidery floss or yarn
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle
Gauge : 26 sc and 25 rows = 4 in(10cm)

- The number in parenthesis at the end of each rnd is the total number of sts in the rnd.
Note
All pieces worked in a continuous spiral. Do not join in the rnd, just work sc in the next st. Place marker or use contrasting color yarn to mark BOR.
Use hook 2.5 mm or size matching your yarn and obtaining gauge. When working around the wooden ring, use smaller size hook, it will be easier to work.

Instructions
Head
With hook 2.5mm make a magic ring.
Rnd 1 – 6sc in magic ring = 6 sts.
Rnd 2 – [inc] * 6 times = 12 sts.
Rnd 3 – [inc, sc in next st] * 6 times = 18 sts.
Rnd 4 – [inc, sc in next 2 sts] * 6 times = 24 sts.
Rnd 5 – [inc, sc in next 3 sts] * 6 times = 30 sts.
Rnd 6 – [inc, sc in next 4 sts] * 6 times = 36 sts.
Rnd 7 – sc in every st = 36 sts.
Rnd 8 – [inc, sc in next 5 sts] * 6 times = 42 sts.
Rnd 9– sc in every st = 42 sts.
Rnd 10 – [inc, sc in next 6 sts] * 6 times = 48 sts.
Rnds 11-15 – sc in every st, 5 rounds = 48 sts.
Rnd 16 – [dec, sc in next 6 sts] * 6 times = 42 sts
Rnd 17 – [dec, sc in next 5 sts] * 6 times = 36 sts.
Rnd 18 – [dec, sc in next 4 sts] * 6 times = 30 sts. Stuff the head and put rattle inside.
Rnd 19 – [dec, sc in next 3 sts] * 6 times = 24 sts.
Rnd 20 – [dec, sc in next 2 sts] * 6 times = 18 sts. Stuff the head tightly, for your convenience you can use tweezers.
Rnd 21 – [dec, sc in next st] * 6 times = 12 sts
Rnd 22 – [dec] * 6 times = 6 sts
Bind off rem 6 sts and fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing. The head is done.
Ears (Make 2)
With hook 2.5mm make a magic ring.
Rnd 1 – 6sc into magic ring = 6 sts.
Rnd 2 (INC) – [inc] 6 times = 12 sts.
Rnd 3 (INC) – [inc, sc in next 3 sts] 3 times = 15 sts.
Rnd 4 (INC) – [inc, sc in next 4 sts] 3 times = 18 sts.
Rnd 5-17 – sc in every st, 13 rounds =18 sts.Sl st in next st. Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing. Sew the ears as it’s shown on pic.4
Carrot
With hook 2.5mm make a magic ring.
Rnd 1 – 6sc into magic ring = 6 sts.
Rnd 2 (INC) – [inc, sc in next st] 3 times = 9 sts.
Rnd 3 – sc in every st = 9 sts.
Rnd 4 (INC) – [inc, sc in next 2 sts] 3 times = 12 sts.
Rnd 5 – sc in every st = 12 sts.
Rnd 6 (INC) – [inc, sc in next 3 sts] 3 times = 15 sts.
Rnds 7-8 – sc in every st, 2 rounds =15 sts.
Rnd 9 (INC) – [inc, sc in next 4 sts] 3 times = 18 sts.
Rnds 10-12 – sc in every st, 3 rounds =18 sts. Stuff the carrot.
Rnd 13 (DEC) – [dec, sc in next st] * 6 times = 12 sts
Rnd 14 (DEC) – [dec] * 6 times = 6 sts
Bind off rem 6 sts and fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Carrot leaf
Make the rectangle in green color.
With green any color and hook 2.5mm ch6.
Row 1 – sc in the 2nd st from the hook, sc in next 4 sts = 5 sts, turn.
Rows 2-10 – ch1, sc in next 5 sts, turn. Cut yarn leaving a long tail for sewing. Sew the carrots to the center of the rectangle.
Flowers (Make 3)
With any color and hook 2.5mm make a magic ring. [ch2, 3 dc, ch2, sl st into magic ring] 3 times. Ch1 to secure, tighten up the magic ring. Make 2 more such details.
Collar
With hook 2.5mm ch21.
Row 1 – sc in the 2nd st from the hook, sc in next 19 sts = 20 sts, turn.
Row 2 – ch3, dc in first st, 2 dc in next 19 sts.
Cut yarn leaving a long tail for sewing. The collar is ready. (pic. 10).
Working around the ring. Option 1
With MC yarn work around the ring in a continuous spiral. The total number of sts depends on the size of your wooden ring and yarn. For my size ch10 using hook 2.5 mm, then work around the ring using hook 2 mm.
Join chain with sl st around the ring. Then sc in each st around. The first rnd is the most difficult. Then start to work in a continuous spiral, sc in every st. If it’s still uncomfortable to work, try to use smaller size hook. Pay attention to your tension, crochet around the ring tightly. If the fabric is moving loosely, rip it out and start over again with one st less.
Cont to work until half or a less than half of the ring is covered. End with sl st. The beginning and the end of work should be inside of the ring. Weave in ends. Pull the end through the last rnd to tighten the fabric around the ring, and then pull it through the fabric inside the ring.
Working around the ring. Option 2
If option 1 is too complicated for you, you can crochet a rectangle, working sc. For my ring size, with hook 2.5 mm ch21 and work for 12 rows of 20 sc with ch1, turn.
(Number of sts and rows depends on a specific ring thickness.) When the rectangle is finished, fold it over the ring and sew it, the fabric should be tight around the ring.
The seam should be inside the ring. Weave in ends using tapestry needle
Assembly
Embroider the nose below round 13. Embroider the sleeping eyes over the nose at a distance of 5 sts. ==> Video tutorial
Sew the ears to 4-5 rounds of the head. To make the ears stick up, sew them on both sides.

Sew the head to the wooden ring, making sure it is centered, press it a bit to avoid thin neck. I recommend to sew it around twice.
Try to sew to the stitchs shown in the photo, then the head will not dangle.
Sew the carrot to the wooden ring. Then sew the flowers to the head near the ears. Sew the collar to the neck.
Bow
If you want to make a male bunny, then make a bow instead of a collar.
With hook 2.5 mm. In magic ring
ch4, tr4, ch4, sl st into magic ring, ch4, tr4, ch4, sl st. Finish off leaving a long tail for sewing.Fasten off, tighten the magic ring and wrap it using the tail.
