The Aspen Loop Bag is a cute and classic purse to add to your collection! It’s worked in one large piece for easy construction. The looped strap allows you to carry it as a cross-body or 2 handle purse!

Row 66: Ch 1, 1 Hdc in each St and Ch across. (49 Hdc) Tie off. Seaming TogetherLay your work out in front of you RS up. We will now be seaming the bottom and sides of the bag. I prefer to use my hook and Sl St to join but you could also you a needle and your preferred sewing method. Fold your bag up and join the 15 Sts that you skipped in row 29 to the side of the upper panel. This creates the bottom seam of the bag. Do not tie off. Continue sewing the side of the bag together by joining Rows 1-28 to rows 39-66. Tie off and repeat on other side. Do not tie off after you seam the second side, go directly to trim section. Be sure to view the video tutorial if you need a visual of the seaming.
TrimTurn your bag RS out. Your yarn should still be attached after the second
seaming section.

Strap Round 1: Ch 8, 1 Sc in the first Ch made to form a loop, 1 Sc in each of
the remaining Ch’s around. (8 Sc)
1 Sc in each St around, working in continuous rounds. Continue until
your strap is measuring approximately 55” long.
(Note- The pictured
bag has a 55” strap. However, it did stretch a few inches once the bag
was holding items and being worn. I had to tie a knot at the top of mine
when I wore it as a crossbody so it didn’t hang too low. If you would like
to avoid this I recommend only making your strap about 50” instead.)
Tie off, leaving a tail of yarn long enough to sew one end of the strap to
the other end. Thread your strap through the holes in the bag trim,
weaving in and out as you go (view photo or video tutorial). Then, use
your needle and sew the first row to the last row to join the strap.
Tie off and weave in all ends.
