Crochet Fall Pullover Pattern – Although it may be created with short sleeves for summer as well, the simple crochet pullover is intended for the fall with long sleeves.

Cropped crochet sweater pattern in US women’s sizes XS-XXL is rather easy and enjoyable to make for beginners.

Materials

  • #1 Fingering weight yarn
  • I used Lindy Chain in color linen #1 fingering weight yarn      
  • 4 mm crochet hook
  • Scissors
  • Yarn needle
  • Stitch marker

Notes:

  • This pattern uses English (US) Terminology
  • This pattern made as women’s sizes XS( S, M, L, XL, XXL )            
  • In this picture I have demonstrated with size Small
  • This top is worked in one piece from the top down. We’ll start with the yoke and then separate the sleeves and continue crocheting with the body. (The long sleeves can be added after the body is complete)

Yarn needed:

  • Short sleeve version = 370( 440, 500, 560, 620, 680 ) yards
  • Long sleeve version = 680( 730, 780, 830, 880, 930 ) yards

Gauge blocked: 16 hdc X 9 rows = 4″

  • XS = 33″ Body Circumference X 14.66″ Long
  • S = 39″ Body Circumference X 14.66″ Long

Fall Pullover Pattern

Yoke

Note: We’re going to work in spiral so make sure to place the stitch marker into the first stitch in each round

Round 1: ch 110( 120, 130, 140, 150, 160 ), 1 sc into first ch (Make sure your ch isn’t twisted),1 sc into next ch and each ch around. Total of 110( 120, 130, 140, 150, 160 ) sc

Round 2: 1 hdc into each st around. Total of 110( 120, 130, 140, 150, 160 ) hdc

Round 3: *1 hdc into each of next 4 st, 2 hdc into next st* REP from *TO* around. Total of 132( 144, 156, 168, 180, 192 ) hdc

Round 4 – Round 6: 1 hdc into each st around. Total of 132( 144, 156, 168, 180, 192 ) hdc

Round 7: *1 hdc into each of next 5 st, 2 hdc into next st* REP from *TO* around. Total of 154( 168, 182, 196, 210, 224 ) hdc

Round 8 – Round 10: 1 hdc into each st around. Total of 154( 168, 182, 196, 210, 224 ) hdc

Round 27( 27, 28, 29, 30, 31 ) – Round 33( 33, 35, 37, 39, 41 ): 1 hdc into each st around.

For the last st of round 33( 33, 35, 37, 39, 41 ), I made a sc instead of hdc (for a smoother finish) then cut the yarn and weave the ends.

*This is designed to be cropped, however; If you’d like a shorter top, just make less rounds. If you’d like a longer top or even a dress, just keep making more rounds to your desired length

If you’d like to make a short sleeve version, just weave all the ends and you’re done! If you’d like to make a long sleeve version, just keep on going with the pattern below.

Sleeve

Note: Make sure to place the stitch marker into the first stitch in each round

Round 1: Add new yarn into the armpit corner then ch 1 (do not count as a st),2 hdc into the same corner sp, 1 hdc into each st until you reach the other corner,2 hdc to the corner sp, 1 hdc into each st around. Total of 54( 57, 60, 63, 66, 69 ) hdc

Round 2 – Round 37: 1 hdc into each st around. Total of 54( 57, 60, 63, 66, 69 ) hdc

For the last st of round 37, I made a sc instead of hdc (for a smoother finish) then cut the yarn and weave all the ends.

*For the sleeves, all the sizes are the same length. If you want a shorter sleeve, just make less rounds. If you want a longer sleeve, just make more rounds to the desired length.
