The Cancun Romper is a gorgeous mesh romper with open back.

Short Legs (make 2)
Round 1: Ch (100, 111, 122, 133). Sl st into the first ch to form a loop. Ch 3 (counts as first dc + 1 ch), dc in 2nd ch from hook. *Ch 1, dc in 2nd ch from hook. Repeat from * around, ending with a ch1 and sl st into your first dc. (100, 111, 122, 133).
Round 2: Ch 3 (counts as first dc + 1 ch), dc in 2nd st from hook. *Ch 1, dc in 2nd st from hook. Repeat from * around, ending with a ch 1 and sl st into your first dc. (100, 111, 122,133).
Rounds 3-6: repeat round 2. F/o, weave in ends.
**on the second short leg, do not fasten off! Instead, line up the both shorts legs so that the last rows are touching, and sl st through 12 st of BOTH rows to join the two. (176, 198, 220, 242). Still, do not fasten off, instead continue on to the steps for the body of the romper.
Body (make 1)
Round 1: Still attached to the shorts (which are now connected), Ch 3. Dc into the closest dc from your hook on either one of the short legs. *ch 1, dc into the 2nd st from hook. Repeat from * around the entirety of both short legs, skipping over the middle portion where they are connected when you arrive at this point. End with a ch 1 + sl st into your first dc. (176, 198, 220, 242).
Round 2: Ch 3 (counts as first dc + 1 ch), dc in 2nd st from hook. *ch 1, dc in 2nd st from hook. Repeat from * around, ending with a ch 1 and sl st into your first dc. (176, 198, 220, 242)
For short torso (4’11-5’4): Rounds 3-9: repeat round 2.
For medium torso (5’5-5’8): Rounds 3-13: repeat round 2.
For long torso (5’9-6’2):
Rounds 3-17: repeat round 2.
Round (10, 14, 18): Ch 3 (counts as first dc + 1 ch), dc in 2nd st from hook. [ch 1, dc in 2nd st from hook] x(5, 6, 7, 8) times, ch 1, dc in the 4th st from hook (the 2nd dc-st from hook).
**[ch 1, dc in the 2nd st from hook] x(6, 7, 8, 9), ch 1, dc in the 4th st from hook. Repeat from ** around, ending with a ch 1 and sl st into your first dc. (154, 176, 198, 220).
Round (11, 15, 19): repeat round 2. (154, 176,198, 220).
Round (12, 16, 20): Ch 3 (counts as first dc + 1 ch), dc in 2nd st from hook. [ch 1, dc in 2nd st from hook] x(4, 5, 6, 7) times, ch 1, dc in the 4th st from hook (the 2nd dc-st from hook).

Round (22, 26, 30): Repeat round 2, except instead of ending with a ch 1 and sl st into your first dc, leave 3 st in between your first and last st (end on a dc, with [1 ch, 1 dc, 1 ch] in between your first and last st. (129, 151, 173, 195).
Round (23, 27, 31): Ch 3 (counts as first dc + 1 ch), turn, dc in 4th st from hook. *ch 1, dc in 2nd st from hook. Repeat from * around, except in the last st of the round, your ch 1 + dc into the last st will be from 4 st away from your hook (a “decrease” like how you began the round). (125, 147, 169, 191).
Round (24, 28, 32): Ch 3 (counts as first dc + 1 ch), turn, dc in 2nd st from hook. *ch 1, dc in 2nd st from hook. Repeat from * around, ending with a ch 1 + dc into the last st. (125, 147, 169, 191).
Rounds (25-26, 29-30, 33-34): repeat the last two rounds (23-24, 27-28, 31-32).
Rounds (25-32, 29-36, 33-40): repeat round (24,28, 32).
**now you will create one of the back panels. The other back panel will be made by joining a new yarn strand to the romper, but for now, since you are already joined, you can create the first of the two.
Round (33, 37, 41): Ch 3 (counts as first dc + 1 ch), turn, dc in 2nd st from hook. *ch 1, dc in 2nd ch from hook. Repeat from * (11, 13, 15, 17) times. (25, 29, 33, 37).
Round (34, 38, 42): Ch 3 (counts as first dc + 1 ch), turn, dc in 4th st from hook. *ch 1, dc in 2nd ch from hook. Repeat from * across, except in the last st of the round, your ch 1 + dc into the last st will be from 4 st away from your hook (a “decrease” like how you began the round). (21, 25, 29, 33).
Round (35, 39, 43):
For size XS: Ch 3 (counts as first dc + 1 ch), turn, dc in 2nd st from hook. *ch 1, dc in 2nd ch from hook. Repeat from * across.
For sizes S, M and L: repeat round (34, 38, 42). (21, 21, 25, 29).
Round (36, 40, 44): repeat round (34, 38, 42).(17, 17, 21, 25).
Round (37, 41, 45):
For sizes XS, S: Ch 3 (counts as first dc + 1 ch), turn, dc in 2nd st from hook. *ch 1, dc in 2nd ch from hook. Repeat from * across.

Other Back Panel (make 1)
Sl st into the last st of round (32, 36, 40) of the body. From there, repeat rounds (33-42, 37-46, 41-50) of the body. F/o, weave in ends.
Front Panel (make 2)
**note: you will repeat this exact process on the other side of the front of the romper, paralell to side you will make first.
Round 1: Sl st into the (12th, 14th, 16th, 18th) st away from the back panel (this is a dc-st). Ch 3 (counts as first dc + 1 ch), dc in the 4th st from hook. *ch 1, dc in 2nd st from hook. Repeat from * seven times. Ch 1, dc in the 4th st from hook. (19, 19, 19, 19)
Round 2: Ch 3 (counts as first dc + 1 ch), turn, dc in the 4th st from hook. *ch 1, dc in the 2nd ch from hook. Repeat from * five times. Ch 1, dc in the 4th st from hook. (15, 15, 15, 15).
Round 3: Ch 3 (counts as first dc + 1 ch), turn, dc in the 4th st from hook. *ch 1, dc in the 2nd ch from hook. Repeat from * three times. Ch 1, dc in the 4th st from hook. (11, 11, 11, 11).
Round 4: Ch 3 (counts as first dc + 1 ch), turn, dc in the 4th st from hook. *ch 1, dc in the 2nd ch from hook. Repeat from * once. Ch 1, dc in the 4th st from hook. (7, 7, 7, 7).
Round 5: Ch 3 (counts as first dc + 1 ch), turn, dc in the 4th st from hook. Ch 1, dc in the last st. (5, 5, 5, 5)
Round 6: Ch 3 (counts as first dc + 1 ch), turn, dc in the last st. Ch 20, sl st into the only st in the last round of the back panel closest to your hook. (if you’re making the left front panel, sl st into the last round of the left back panel, and same for when you make the right).

**note: this should fit comfortably over your shoulder when wearing the romper, if it is too tight/loose, adjust accordingly by adding/subtracting chains.
Turn so you are facing the chain you just made, sc in next ch from hook and in each ch across, ending with a sl st into the last st of round 6 of the front panel. F/o, weave in ends.
**weave in all ends once both front panels are complete and connected to the back panels. Enjoy!!!!!!
