E x t r a ( s h i f t ) s t i t c h

A very common term in crocheting is the extra stitch.
So what is this loop?
When crocheting, almost always the marker of the beginning of the round is shifted to the right side. It is necessary to align it. And how to do it?
You just need to crochet another 1sc at the end of the round and shift the marker by one stitch.
The second stitch becomes the first and the first becomes the last. This is the shift (extra) stitch.
And the most important thing! This stitch is not included in crocheting.

F e e t ( m a k e 2 )

First we need to crochet a sample, according to it we will cut out the insole and prepare the wire frame. In the future, we will not need it.

Start crocheting with brick red yarn. Marker of the beginning of the round will pass along the side of the foot. If necessary, crochet extra stitches.

  • Prepare the insoles. On thick cardboard or plastic (for example, a container lid), circle the part, cut it out, try it on and put it aside for now. Make 2 insoles for 2 feet at once.
  • Bend a wire 40 cm long in the shape of a foot (see photo) – 2 pcs.
  • This crochet sample is no longer useful to us.
  • Let’s start crocheting the feet. Work according to the description up to round 10. Insert the plastic and wire frame inside the foot. Next, work up to round 12 inclusive. At this stage, we need to bend the wire frame perpendicular to the plastic base, bring it through the hole, which we will crochet in round 13. Then finish crocheting the foot. Cut the yarn, tighten the hole. In the same way crochet the second foot.

Attach the brick red yarn to the first stitch of round 12 and work:

  1. 5sc along round 12, 1sc into the corner, 5sc on the chain in round 13, 1sc into the corner (12)
  2. (2sc, dec)*3 (9)
    3-12. 9sc (10 rounds)
Cut the yarn, fasten off, leaving a long end for sewing pieces.

Using sewing pins or a water soluble marker, mark the points for inserting the wire frames from the legs. They will be between rounds 9 and 10. Count from the marker 11sc (count along round 10) and place the first pin, then count 35sc from the 1st pin and place the 2nd pin. From the 2nd pin to the marker, you should have 20 sc.

11. 62sc – short round.

Transfer the marker. It should pass at the back, in the middle. Align the marker by crocheting extra stitches in the process.

12. 3sc, inc, 24sc, inc, 8sc, inc, 24sc, inc, 3sc (70)

13-14. 70sc (2 rounds)
