OVERVIEW
- The cardigan is worked in 5 pieces: Back, 2 Front panels and 2 sleeves
- Each piece is crocheted bottom up and in the direction of the arrows as shown in the diagram below.
- The neckband is crocheted along the neckline.

GAUGE: (Approximate) 19 sts and 11 rows = 4″x4” [10×10 cm] in Double Crochet with 5mm crochet hook.
Note: Before starting to crochet the cardigan, you need to make a swatch to check the gauge first. The swatch should be 19 sts and 11 rows = 4″x4” [10×10 cm] so that the cardigan could get the dimensions recommended in the pattern.
MATERIALS AND TOOLS
- Etrofil Inci yarn, color No.73100: 500 (550, 600, 650, 750, 800) grams.
Note: You can choose another yarn brands, make sure that the yarn weight is DK/ 8ply/ weight 3 and the knitting gauge written on the yarn label should be about 20 stitches = 4”.
- Three 2cm buttons
- Size 4mm crochet hook
- Size 5mm crochet hook
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle

BACK PANEL
Ribbing
With 4mm hook, ch 15.
Row 1: Begin from 2nd chain from hook, YOST in next 14 chains; Ch 1, turn.
Row 2: YOST BLO in all sts; Ch 1, turn.
Repeat Row 2 90 (96, 100, 106, 116, 128) times more. There are 92 (98, 102, 108, 118, 130) rows in total.
The length of the ribbing is about 19 (20½, 21, 22½, 24½, 26½)” [48 (52, 54, 57, 62, 68) cm].
Change to 5mm hook

Row 3 (RS): Work across long edge of the ribbing, from the right to the left as the arrow shown in picture 1. Dc in each st. There are 92 (98, 102, 108, 118, 130) sts left after this step. Ch1, turn.
Row 4: Dc in all sts. Ch1, turn.
Repeat Row 4 until work from beginning (including the ribbing) measures 10 (10, 11, 11½, 12, 12½)” [25 (26, 28, 29, 31, 32) cm], ending with a WS row.

Shape armholes
Row 5 (RS): Slip stitch in first 2 sts, dc to last 2 sts, leave these 2 sts unworked. Ch 1, turn.
Row 6: Dc to last 2 sts, leave these 2 sts unworked. Ch 1, turn. There are 88 (94, 98, 104, 114, 126) sts remaining.
Repeat Row 4 until work from the beginning measures 16 (17, 17½, 18½, 19½, 20)” [41 (43, 45, 47, 49, 51) cm], ending on a WS row.
Shape neck and shoulders

Row 7 (RS): Dc in next 27 (29, 30, 33, 38, 43) sts, dc2tog, leave remaining sts unworked. Ch1, turn.
Row 8: Dc2tog, dc in remaining 26 (28, 29, 32, 37, 42) sts. Ch1, turn.
Row 9: Dc to last 2 sts, dc2tog. Ch1, turn.
Row 10: Dc2tog, dc in remaining sts.
There are 25 (27, 28, 31, 36, 41) sts left on right shoulder.
Fasten off. Leave a long yarn thread to sew the front and back shoulders together.
Shape left shoulder and neck
Row 7 (RS): Skip next 30 (32, 34, 34, 34, 36) sts, join yarn with slip stitch to next st (at the position of the Brown dot in figure 1). Ch1. Dc in remaining 28 (30, 31, 34, 39, 44) sts. Ch1, turn.
Row 8: Dc in next 26 (28, 29, 32, 37, 42) sts, dc2tog. Ch1, turn.
Row 9: Dc2tog, dc to end of row. Ch1, turn.

Make the cuff
With 4mm crochet hook. Ch 15.
Row 1: Begin from 2nd chain from hook, YOST in next 14 chains; Ch 1, turn.
Row 2: YOST BLO in all sts; Ch 1, turn.
Repeat Row 2 36 (38, 38, 40, 40, 42) times more. There are 38 (40, 40, 42, 42, 44) rows in total.
Change to 5mm hook.
Row 3 (RS): 2dc in each st across long edge of Ribbing, from the right to the left as the arrow shown in picture
- There are 76 (80, 80, 84, 84, 88) sts after this step. Ch 1, turn.
Row 4: Dc in all sts. Ch1, turn.
Repeat Row 4 until work from beginning (including ribbing) measures 16 (16½, 17, 17½, 17½, 18)” [41 (42, 43,
44, 45, 46) cm].
Fasten off, leave a long yarn thread to sew the sleeve to the body.
FINISHING
Turn all pieces of the cardigan into right side. Sew shoulder seams together with whip stitch. Sew sleeves to armholes with whip stitch. Sew side and sleeve seams together with whip stitch.
NECKBAND
Row 1 (RS): With RS facing and 4mm hook pick up, beginning from the bottom of Right Front panel, join yarn to first st of the ribbing with slip stitch. Ch1, sc in each of remaining 13 sts of ribbing. In Double-crochet part of the cardigan, crochet 2sc in each border st of each row; crochet along right front panel then move to back panel then down left front panel. Finally, sc in each of 14 sts of Left Front’s ribbing. Ch1, turn.
Row 2 (WS): Sl st FLO in all sts. Ch1, turn. Repeat Row 2 five times more.
Make vertical buttonholes. There are 3 buttonholes, each one is 3½ (3¾, 4¼, 4½, 4¾, 5)” [9 (10, 11, 11, 12, 13) cm] apart from each other.
Row 3 (WS): Sl st FLO in first 6 sts of row. Ch3, skip next 3sts (first buttonhole). (**) Sl st FLO until work from the previous buttonhole is 3½ (3¾, 4¼, 4½, 4¾, 5)” [9 (10, 11, 11, 12, 13) cm]. Ch3, skip next 3sts (**). Repeat from (**) to (**) once more. Sl st FLO to end of row.
Row 4- Row 8 (5 rows): Sl st FLO in all sts Fasten off. Wave in end.
Sew the buttons to the neckband of left front panel, each one is 3½ (3¾, 4¼, 4½, 4¾, 5)” [9 (10, 11, 11, 12, 13) cm] apart from another.
