Place eyes between rounds 7 and 8, leaving 12 holes between them. 1st eye is placed after the 2nd increase. Count 12 holes after the first eye and place the 2nd eye. If you want the sunken eye look, do not place the backs of the eyes on until row 27.

TIP! You may have to adjust the eye placement depending on yarn and hook size you use.

17. (7 sc, dec) x 6= 48

Now for the eyes. Stuff the head well. Cut a long piece of yarn and remove the eyes. Place the needle in the hole where the first eye was and thread the needle into a hole next to the eye hole. Go back and forth between each eye hole repeating the process from the first eye. Pull slightly on the yarn after going through each hole. Do this about 3 times on each side until you reach the look you want. Follow the pictures for help. There is also a youtube video I have for extra help on this process.

To place the backs of the eyes you will need to remove most of the stuffing to place the washers on the eyes then re stuff it.

Assembly

Head and Body:

  1. Cut a long strand of white yarn. Thread your needle and insert the needle into a hole on the side of the head. Bring the needle up to a lower corner inside the eye. Bring the needle to a corner on top of the eye and insert the needle. Pull just a little so the white yarn goes underneath the eye. Do not pull too tightly. Repeat for the 2nd eye. Weave in the tail ends.
  2. I changed the strands on the front of the face to red after pictures. For the tentacles or strands on the face, thread a needle with a strand of red or black yarn. Insert the needle into a hole on the face. Between rounds 2 and 3, make 2 tentacles. Weave in the tail ends.
  3. For the stripes on the back. Mark some spots on the back with pins.
    • Large stripe: Mark 2 spots between rounds 26 and 27, 9 holes apart.
    • Medium stripe: Mark 2 spots between rounds 30 and 31, 7 holes apart.
    • Small stripe: Mark 2 spots between rounds 34 and 35, 5 holes apart.
    • With black yarn, insert the needle into a hole on the back and make a line. Weave in the tail ends.
  4. Take a strand of black embroidery thread. Thread your needle and insert the needle into a round on the side of the head. Bring the needle to a hole above the eye approximately between rounds 11 and 12. Insert the needle into a hole approximately 3 holes away. Repeat for the 2nd eyebrow. Weave in the tail ends.

Legs:

  1. Turn the body upside down. Pin the claws approximately between rounds 14 and 18. Make sure the part of the claws that curve in are on towards the face of the lobster.
  2. Sew the claws onto the body.
  3. Pin the small legs next to the claw.
  4. Sew the legs onto the body.
