Crochet Pattern Baby Blanket Hat Cardigan Booties: Step By Step Tutorial

Crochet Pattern baby blanket, hat, cardigan and booties set ♥♥♥ The US crochet terms used in the pattern are converted to UK or Australian equivalents at the start of the pattern. Simply put, some of the stitch names are different.

MATERIALS & TOOLS YOU WILL NEED:

  • Acrylic or other yarn in grey colour 300gr – 350gr approx. – DK, Double Knitting in UK, Light Worsted in the USA, 8ply in Australia.
  • Crochet hook sizes (J) 6mm, (7) 4.5mm and (G) 4mm.
  • Satin ribbon in pink colour 2 metres.
  • 3 pearl beads in pink colour (optional).
  • Yarn needle to weave in ends.

ABBREVIATIONS:

  • CH – chain
  • CH SP – chain space
  • SC – single crochet (double crochet for UK/Australia)
  • DC – double crochet (treble crochet for UK/Australia)
  • TR – triple (treble) crochet (double treble crochet for UK/Australia)
  • SS – slip stitch
  • ST – stitch
  • DC2tog – join 2 double crochet stitches together
  • DC3tog – join 3 double crochet stitches together

BABY BLANKET SIZES 27”x 27” (70cm x 70cm) and 31”x 31” (80cm x 80cm)

Use crochet hook size J 6mm. CH5, join with SS in first CH to form a ring.

ROUND 1: CH3 (counts as a double in this and all following rounds), 2DC in ring, (CH3, 3DC in ring), repeat 3 times, CH3; join with SS in 3rd CH of beg CH3.

ROUND 2: slip stitch in first space, CH3, in same SP work (2DC, CH3, 3DC): corner made, CH1,* skip next 3 DC, in next CH3 SP work (3DC, 3CH, 3 DC): corner made, CH1, rep from *twice more, skip next 3 DC, join with SS in 3rd CH of beg CH3.

ROUND 3: slip stitch in CH3 corner space, CH3 in same space, work (2DC, CH3, 3DC): corner made, CH1,* 3 DC in next space, CH1, in next CH3 corner SP work (3DC, CH3, 3DC): corner made, CH1, rep from * twice more, join with SS in 3rd CH of beg CH3.

ROUND 4: slip stitch in corner space, CH3, in same space work (2DC, CH3, 3DC): corner made, CH1, * (3DC into next space), CH1, twice, (3DC, CH3, 3DC) in next CH3 space: corner made, CH1, rep from* twice more, (3DC into next space), CH1, twice, join with SS into 3rd CH of beg CH3.

Repeat rounds until blanket is the required size. Each successive round will have one additional 3DC group between corners. For the blanket size 27”x 27”(70cm x 70cm) must be 24 rounds before border, for the size 31”x 31”(80cm x 80cm) must be 28 rounds before border.

This pattern is easily expanded to make a blanket size you need, just remember once again: The number of the rows before border row must be even e.g. 24, 26, 28 rows etc.

BORDER: slip stitch in next 2 ST and in corner space, CH3, in same space work 10DC (11DC ON ALL CORNERS): corner made, CH1, SC in next CH1 space, CH1, work 6DC into next CH1 space, CH1, rep around the blanket. Fasten off.

CROCHET FLOWER

Use crochet hook size 4.5 mm. CH5, join with SS in first CH to form a ring.

ROUND 1: CH3, 3TR crochet in ring, CH2, SC in ring (first flowers petal), CH2, 3TR crochet in ring, CH2, SC in ring (second petal), make 3 more petals.

ROUND 2: CH3, now flip over and work on wrong side behind the petals, skip petal, SC in back loops of the next SC ST between petals, repeat 4 more times, join with SS in first CH at the beginning of the round.

ROUND 3: now work (SC, CH2, 5TR crochet, CH2, SC) in each CH3 space of the round, join with SS in first SC ST, fasten off.

Make 3 flowers. Use 1 flower for the blanket. Sew pearl bead to flower centre and sew the flower to the blankets corner.

BABY HAT

Use crochet hook 5 mm. CH 3, join with SS in first CH to form a ring.

ROUND 1: CH3 (counts as first DC), DC 11 in the ring, SS in top of beg CH3. (12 ST) ROUND 2: CH3, DC in same ST as CH3, 2DC in each ST around, join with SS. (24 ST)

ROUND 3: CH3, DC in same ST as CH3, DC in next ST, *2DC in next ST, DC in next ST, repeat from * to end of the round, join with SS. (36 ST)

ROUND 4: CH3, DC in next ST, 2DC in next ST, *DC in next 2 ST, 2DC in next ST, repeat from * to end of the round, join with SS. (48 ST)

ROUND 5: CH3, DC in same ST as CH3, * DC in next 3 ST, 2DC in next ST, repeat from * to end of the round, join with SS. (60 ST)

ROUND 6: CH3, DC in all ST of the round, join with SS. (60 ST)

Sew pearl bead to flower centre (optional) and sew flower to the hat.

Use hook size 5 mm. Starting with neckline CH 49. Always count CH2 or CH3 at the beginning of the row as a ST.

ROW 21: CH1, now work on the edge towards neckline corner, work evenly 30 SC along up to neckline corner, 3SC on the corner, SC across all ST of neckline, 3SC on the corner, work evenly 30 SC on the another edge towards bottom of cardigan.

ROW 22: CH1, now work on the bottom edge of cardigan, skip 1 ST, 6DC in next ST,

* skip 2 ST, SC in next ST, skip 2 ST, 6DC in next ST, repeat from * to the end of bottom edge, skip 2 ST, SS in first CH1 at the corner.

ROW 23: CH1, now work on the edge towards neckline corner, skip 1 ST, 6DC in next ST, * skip 2 ST, SC in next ST, skip 2 ST, 6DC in next ST, repeat from * 3 more times, skip 2 ST, SC in next 3 ST to the neckline corner, SS in next ST (in second ST of 3SC group on the corner), fasten off.

ROW 24: now work on another cardigan edge from neckline corner towards bottom of cardigan, attach yarn to neckline corner (in second ST of 3SC group on the corner), SC in next 3 ST, skip 2 ST, 6DC in next ST, * skip 2 ST, SC in next ST, skip 2 ST, 6DC in next ST, repeat from * 3 more times, skip 1 ST, SS in first CH1 on the corner of previous row, fasten off.

SLEEVES.

ROUND 1: Attach yarn at underarm CH1, CH2 (count as a ST), turn, make DC in horizontal DC ST of previous rounds, DC in next 27 ST, DC in horizontal DC ST of previous rounds, join with SS in CH2. (30 ST)

ROUNDS 2 – 8: CH3, turn, DC in all ST of the round, join with SS. (30 ST)

ROUND 16: repeat Round 12. Fasten off. Make another sleeve the same.

Sew pearl bead to flower centre (optional) and sew flower to cardigan.

Now work with satin ribbon, cut 90 cm of ribbon for cardigan, cut the edges of a ribbon at a 45-degree angle and using lighter or candle drag the very edge of the ribbon next to the flame to burn the edges to keep ribbon from fraying. Weave satin ribbon through every 3rd DC ST (approx.) in Row 1.

BABY BOOTIES

SOLE: Use crochet hook 4 mm, CH 13. (CH3 or CH4 at the beginning of the row or round always count as a ST)

ROUND 1: 3DC in same 4th CH from hook, DC in next 8 CH, 7DC in same last CH, continue on the opposite side of the CH, DC in next 8 CH, 3DC in same last CH as first CH3 and 3DC, join with SS in CH3. (30 ST)

ROUND 2: CH3, DC in same ST as CH3, 2DC in next 2 ST, DC in next 10 ST, 2DC in next 2 ST, 3DC in next ST, 2DC into next 2 ST, DC in next 10 ST, 2DC in next 2 ST, DC in last same ST as first CH3 and DC, join with SS. (42 ST)

UPPER: ROUNDS 3 – 4: CH3, DC in all ST of the round, join with SS. (42 ST)

ROUND 5: CH3, DC in next 13 ST, DC2tog, DC in next ST, DC2tog, DC in next ST, DC3tog, DC in next ST, DC2tog, DC in next ST, DC2tog, DC in next 13 ST, join with SS. (36 ST)

Fasten off. Make two booties.

Cut the rest of satin ribbon in half, 55 cm each piece, cut the edges at a 45-degree angle and using lighter or candle drag the very edge of the ribbon next to the flame to burn the edge to keep ribbon from fraying. Weave the ribbon through the TR crochet STs in round 8.
