OVERVIEW:
- The cardigan is worked in 5 pieces: 2 sleeves, 1 back and 2 front panels
- The front and back panels are crocheted from the bottom edge and in the direction of the arrows as shown in the diagram below.
- The cuffs are crocheted separately and then sewn to the sleeves.
- The neckband is crocheted separately and then sewn along the neckline.

MATERIALS AND TOOLS:
- YarnArt Charisma, color No.3017: 550 (600, 650, 750, 800, 900) grams
Note: You could choose another yarn brands, make sure that the yarn weight is DK (8ply/ weight 3) and the knitting gauge written in the yarn label is about 20 stitches = 4 inches (10cm).
- Size 4mm crochet hook

GAUGE: 16 sts and 12 rows = 4″x4” [10×10 cm] in Half Double Crochet BLO Stitch with 5mm crochet hook.
Note: Before starting crocheting the cardigan, you need to make a swatch to check the gauge first. The swatch should be 16 sts and 12 rows = 4″x4” [10×10 cm] so that the cardigan could get the dimensions recommended in the table below.

Row 2: HDC BLO in all 54 (56, 58, 59, 61, 62) sts; Ch2, turn.
Repeat Row 2 46 (48, 48, 50, 50, 54) times more. There are 48 (50, 50, 52, 52, 56) rows in total.
Shape the balloon sleeve
Change to 4mm hook.
Row 1’ (WS): SC 48 (50, 50, 52, 52, 56) sts across wide edge of Sleeve, in the direction as the arrow shown in picture 6. Ch 1, turn.
Row 2’ (RS): (SC in next st, SC2tog) 16 (16, 16, 17, 17, 18) times, SC in
remaining sts (Picture 7). There are 32 (34, 34, 35, 35, 38) sts left after this step.
Fasten off.

Make the cuff
The gauge of SC BLO should be about 20 stitches = 4” (10cm). With 4mm hook, Ch12.
Row 1 (WS): Begin from 2nd chain from hook, SC in next 11 sts; ch 1, turn.
Row 2: SC BLO in all 11 sts; Ch1, turn.
Repeat Row 2 30 (32, 32, 33, 33, 36) times more. There are 32 (34, 34, 35, 35, 38) rows in total.
Fasten off, leave a long yarn thread to sew the cuff to the sleeve.
Make other Sleeve the same.
FINISHING:
Block pieces.
Sew shoulder seams together with Whip stitch.
Sew cuffs to sleeves: Sew 1 st of the upper sleeve to 1 st of the cuff.
Note: Do not pull the yarn thread too tightly when you sew because it will prevent your hands from getting through the cuffs. Stretch the cuff horizontally to make sure that it stretches well.
Sew tops of Sleeves to armholes with Whip stitch.
Sew side and Sleeve seams together with Whip stitch.
Neckband
With 4mm hook, Ch 7 sts.
Row 1: Begin from 2nd chain from hook, SC in next 6 sts; Ch 1, turn.
Row 2: SC BLO in all 6 sts. Ch 1, turn.
Repeat last row until neckband measures length to fit along neck edge, when slightly stretched. Fasten off. Sew neckband along neckline with Whip stitch. Stretch the neck area horizontally to make sure that it stretches well.
Left buttonhole band
Ch 7 sts.
Row 1: Begin from 2nd chain from hook, SC in next 6 sts; Ch 1, turn.
Row 2: Sc BLO in all 6 sts. Ch 1, turn. Repeat Row 2 three times more.
