OVERVIEW:

  • The top is worked in 4 pieces: Back, Front and 2 sleeves
  • Each piece is worked back and forth in rows beginning at lower edge.
  • Stitches are picked up around neck for the neckband.

MATERIALS AND TOOLS:

  • Nako Cici Bio, color No. 6811: 200 (250, 300, 300, 350, 350) grams.

Note: You could choose another yarn brands, make sure that the yarn is about 250m/100g (DK weight).

Tips: If you make this top for summer, you should avoid the yarn made from wool and mohair because they are not comfortable to wear in hot weather. Linen, cotton and acrylic are the good choices.

  • Size 3 mm (recommended length: 40cm) circular knitting needles
  • Size 4 mm (recommended length: 60cm to 80cm) circular needles or a pair of straight 4mm needles or size that obtain gauge
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry needle
  • Measuring tape
  • Knitting markers

GAUGE: 20 sts and 27 rows = 4×4″ [10×10 cm] in Stockinette stitch with 4mm needles.

Before knitting the top, you need to make a gauge swatch which is the only way to make sure that the recommended needles give you the correct gauge.

Note: The top is close fit and really stretchy horizontally.

Ssk = Slip next 2 stitches knitwise one at a time. Pass them back onto left -hand needle, then knit through back loops together.

BACK PANEL:

(*) With 3mm circular needles, cast on 64 (68, 72, 76, 80, 86) sts.

Row 1: **K1, P1; repeat from ** to end of row Repeat Row 1 until work from beginning is 1½” (4cm).

Change to 4mm needles. Row 2 (RS): K1 in all sts Row 3: P1 in all sts

Neckband:

With RS facing and 3mm needles pick up, beginning from left shoulder and pick up and K 58 (60, 60, 60, 62, 62) sts along Front neck edge, then K 12 sts from top of Right shoulder, K 42 (44, 44, 44, 46, 46) sts from Back neck edge and K 12 sts from top of Left shoulder.

There are 124 (128, 128, 128, 132, 132) sts in total.

Note: It is fine if the amount of stitches you pick up for the neckband is not 124 (128, 128, 128, 132, 132) sts. However, you need to make sure that it is not too different from the number shown in the instruction and it must be an even number.

Begin with WS, work in K1, P1 Rib for about 1” (2cm). Cast of in ribbing. Sew neckband seam. Wave in ends.
