FAQs

How do I get an increase of two going from Round
11 to Round 12?

A: In the previous round (11), you added a hdcinc to the very first and very last stitches.
These are not separated by a chain-1. In Round
12, you are making a “sc, ch1, sc” over this
hdc-inc, which will add a stitch with the ch-1
separating the two scs. This will be your
“increase” for the round, and as you are
“increasing” at the first and last stitches of the
round, your stitch count will go up by two.
You repeat rounds 11 and 12, adding 2 stitches
with every round, until you reach 125 stitches.
After “Round (41, 45, 49, 53, 57, 61)” how do I
decrease down to 111 stitches from 125?
A: In the following round, you are skipping
over the first and last chain-1 spaces and

making two single crochets in the first two
and last two hdc-stitches. This leaves you
with two single crochets, not separated by a
chain, at the end of the round (a decrease of
two). The round after that, when you make
your starting hdc + 1 ch, you are not going
to work into that 2nd single crochet, but
instead, skip over that single crochet and
make a hdc into the 2nd single crochet
stitch from your hook. This is essentially
another decrease, because you are skipping
over a stitch completely. So you will lose
another two stitches this round, after
ignoring one of those single crochets at the
start and end of the round. Then you
alternate between those two rounds until
your count reaches 111 stitches.
