This unique use of filet hexagons creates a honeycomb look for a cool and wearable crochet summer top.
This pattern is worked as one piece, from bottom up, and in rows. If a longer length is desired add one more repeat on the body portion. A trim is added and at the same time buttonholes are created for the front.

Edges & Edge Slip Stitches:
With the right side facing, attach yarn to the top of the left piece (far left arrow in image
below) and loosely slip stitch around all edges, and in front of straps, and join to first stitch with a slip stitch. Use approximately two stitches per row along the row edges, and one stitch on the top and bottom edges. Increase hook size if needed because you do not want anything to pucker or be too tight.
Button Hole Stitches:
Working in the back loops only of the previous slip stitches, sc in each stitch around, working the button holes along one side as below, slip stitch to join.
When working the section for button holes, work as follows: Starting from body row as indicated in picture by the button hole bracket lines: Ch 2, skip 2, sc 8; repeat from * to * along button edge creating 7 (7, 8, 8, 9, 9) button holes.
Note: The sample in image shows six button holes, however after creating a second top I determined one more button hole would be nice and that is reflected in the above instructions.
Straps:
With yarn needle, sew the straps to the back as shown. Attach buttons to opposite side of
tank. Fasten off, weave in ends, and wear!
