Gauge

7 clusters x 11 rounds in pattern below.

Gauge Swatch

Because this top is worked in turned rounds, it is acceptable to make a flat gauge swatch.

Row 1: Fsc 31.

Row 2: Standing dc, *ch 1, sk 2, 3dc in next st, repeat from * until 3 sts remain, ch 1, dc in final st, turn.

Row 3: Standing dc, 2dc in ch sp, *ch 1, 3dc in next ch sp, repeat from * until 1 ch sp remains, 2 dc in ch sp, dc in final st, turn.

Row 4: Standing dc, *ch 1, 3dc in next ch sp, repeat from * until 3 sts remain, ch 1, dc in final st, turn.

Rows 4 – 15: Repeat rows 3 – 4. Fasten off.

Block your gauge swatch. Measure using the internal part of the square, ie, do not measure using the edge stitches. This will give you the most accurate measurement.

Notes

  • All measurements are blocked. Please block your swatch in the same manner that you will block your finished garment.
  • I recommend steam blocking. If you choose to wet block, take care not to stretch your garment too much. Pattern is written in size XS with changes for sizes S, M, L, XL, 2X, 3X, 4X, and 5X following in parentheses. It is recommended that you highlight the instructions for your size.
  • Choose a bust size up to 5” larger than your bust measurement. Size details are given on the next page. Stitch counts are given in granny stitch clusters and are indicated in < > where there is a change.
  • A cluster is the group of 3 dc.
  • You can choose to use ch 2 at the beginning of a round rather than standing dc if you wish.
  • The waist shaping round on the body is optional. If you choose to skip this, you do not need to place markers at the sleeve separation.
  • This top has a wider neckline. If you prefer a smaller neckline, this can be achieved by crocheting your foundation round with a hook 0.5mm smaller than the one you have met gauge with. Additionally, I have included two options for the neckline; a wider version (as seen in tester photos and my samples) or a more narrow version. Choose whichever option you would like.
  • On my second sample, I finished the neckline with a slst round to stabilize it.
  • Move markers each round, you can drop them after the waist shaping round.
  • Use as many colors or as few as you’d like – this is a great pattern for stash busting!
  • My method for changing colors was as follows:
    • For final YO, use both the color you will be dropping and the new color, holding strands together.
    • Continue using both strands together for your final ch 1.
    • Drop the color you are no longer using and only use the new color for the slst at the beginning of the next round.
    • This helps keep your ends more secure than simply doing a change on the YO.
  • Sample changed colors every round, and colors were cut with a long tail at each change. Make sure you leave tails long enough to weave securely!
  • The sleeves on this pattern are intentionally fluttery. If you prefer a closer to the arm sleeve fit, you can accomplish this by removing 4 increases on your final increase round (sk 2 at the beginning of the round and 2 at the end), and then reducing your sk clusters in the sleeve separation by 2 on each sleeve.
  • There is a page at the end of the pattern to keep track of any notes on your project you may like to.
